Access Free Yahoo! Mail with Outlook 2003

To fetch mail from and send mail through a free Yahoo! Mail account in Outlook:

·                                 Select Tools | Account Settings... from the menu in Outlook.

·                                 Go to the E-mail tab.

·                                 Click New....

·                                 Make sure Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP is selected.

·                                 Click Next >.

·                                 Type your name (what you want to appear in the From: line of messages you send) Your Name:. "example@yahoo.com") under E-mail Address:.

·                                 Make sure Manually configure server settings or additional server types is checked.

·                                 Click Next >.

·                                 Make sure Internet E-mail is selected.

·                                 Click Next >.

·                                 Make sure POP3 is selected under Account Type:.

·                                 Type "127.0.0.1" under both Incoming mail server: and Outgoing mail server (SMTP):.

·                                 Type your Yahoo! ID under User Name:.

o                                                        The Yahoo! ID is also the first part of your Yahoo! Mail address, i.e. everything before "@yahoo.com". If your Yahoo! Mail address is "example@yahoo.com", the ID is "example".

·                                 Enter your Yahoo! Mail password under Password:.

·                                 Click More Settings ....

·                                 Go to the Outgoing Server tab.

·                                 Make sure My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication is checked.

o                                                        Leave Use same settings as my incoming mail server selected.

·                                 Click OK.

·                                 Now click Next >.

·                                 Click Finish.

 

Access Gmail with Outlook 2002 or Outlook 2003 Using IMAP

To set up IMAP access (which includes all your archived messages and labels qua folders) to a Gmail access in Outlook 2002 or 2003:

·                                 Make sure IMAP access is enabled in Gmail.

·                                 Select Tools | E-mail Accounts... from the menu.

·                                 Make sure Add a new e-mail account is selected.

·                                 Click Next >.

·                                 Choose IMAP.

·                                 Click Next >.

·                                 Type your name under Your Name:.

·                                 Enter your Gmail email address in the E-mail Address: field.

·                                 Make sure your Gmail user name is listed in the User Name: field.

o                                                        Your user name is what precedes "@gmail.com" in your Gmail address.

If your address is "asdf.asdf@gail.com", for example, use "asdf.asdf".

·                                 Enter your Gmail password under Password:.

·                                 Type "imap.gmail.com" under Incoming mail server (IMAP):.

·                                 Type "smtp.gmail.com" in the Outgoing mail server (SMTP): field.

·                                 Click More Settings ....

·                                 Go to the Outgoing Server tab.

·                                 Make sure My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication is checked.

o                                                        Leave the default of Use the same settings as my incoming mail server intact.

·                                 Now go to the Advanced tab.

·                                 Make sure This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) is checked under both Incoming server (IMAP): and Outgoing server (SMTP):.

·                                 Make sure "993" appears under Server Port Numbers for Incoming Server (IMAP):.

·                                 Enter "465" under Server Port Numbers for Outgoing server (SMTP):.

·                                 Click OK.

·                                 Now click Next > and then Finish.

Access Gmail with Outlook 2002 or Outlook 2003 Using POP

o                                                        If the number under Incoming server (POP3): has not been changed to 995 automatically, enter 995 there.

Access Gmail with Outlook Using IMAP

To set up seamless access to all your Gmail mail and labels in Outlook 2007

 

Make sure IMAP access is enabled in Gmail.

If your Gmail account name is "asdf.asdf", make sure you type "asdf.asdf@gmail.com" (not including the quotation marks), for example.

·                                 Make sure Manually configure server settings or additional server types is checked.

·                                 Click Next >.

·                                 Make sure Internet E-mail is selected.

·                                 Click Next >.

·                                 Select IMAP under Account Type:.

·                                 Type "imap.gmail.com" under Incoming mail server:.

·                                 Enter "smtp.gmail.com" under Outgoing mail server (SMTP):.

·                                 Type your Gmail account name under User Name:.

o                                                        If your Gmail address is "asdf.asdf@gmail.com", for example, type "asdf.asdf".

Access Gmail with Outlook Using POP

To set up access to a Gmail account in Outlook 2007:

·                                 Make sure POP access is turned on for your Gmail account.

·                                 Select Tools | Account Settings... from the menu in Outlook.

·                                 Go to the E-mail tab.

·                                 Click New....

·                                 Make sure Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP is selected.

·                                 Click Next >.

·                                 Type your name as you want it to appear in outgoing email under Your Name:.

·                                 Enter your Gmail address under E-mail Address:.

·                                 Type your Gmail password under both Password: and Retype Password:.

·                                 Make sure Manually configure server settings or additional server types is not checked.

·                                 Click Next >.

·                                 Click Finish.

·                                 Now click Close.

Using the Send/Receive toolbar item, you can immediately download new messages in your Gmail account to your Outlook Inbox.

If Automatic Configuration of Your Gmail Account Fails

If Outlook was not able to configure your Gmail account automatically, you can still do it manually:

·                                 Make sure Manually configure server settings or additional server types is checked.

·                                 Click Next >.

·                                 Make sure Internet E-mail is selected.

·                                 Click Next >.

·                                 Make sure POP3 is selected under Account Type:.

·                                 Enter "pop.gmail.com" under Incoming mail server:.

·                                 Type "smtp.gmail.com" under Outgoing mail server (SMTP):.

·                                 Enter your Gmail user name (the part of your Gmail address preceding "@gmail.com") under User Name:.

·                                 Type your Gmail password under Password:.

·                                 Click More Settings....

·                                 Go to the Outgoing Server tab.

·                                 Make sure My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication is checked.

·                                 Go to the Advanced tab.

·                                 Make sure This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) is checked under Incoming server (POP3):.

·                                 Verify Outlook has entered "995" under Incoming server (POP3):.

·                                 Select Auto under Use the following type of encrypted connection: for Outgoing server (SMTP):.

·                                 Click OK.

·                                 Click Next >.

·                                 Now click Finish.

 

 

Access an AOL Email Account with Outlook

To set up an AOL email account in Outlook:

·                                 Select Tools | Account Settings... from the menu in Outlook.

·                                 Go to the E-mail tab.

·                                 Click New....

·                                 Make sure Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP is selected.

·                                 Click Next >.

·                                 Type your name (what you want to appear in the From: line of messages you send) Your Name:.

·                                 Enter your full AOL address under E-mail Address:.

o                                                        Make sure you include "@aol.com".

If your screen name is "homers", make sure you type "homers@aol.com" (not including the quotation marks), for example.

·                                 Make sure Manually configure server settings or additional server types is checked.

·                                 Click Next >.

·                                 Make sure Internet E-mail is selected.

·                                 Click Next >.

·                                 Select IMAP under Account Type:.

·                                 Type "imap.aol.com" under Incoming mail server:.

·                                 Enter "smtp.aol.com" under Outgoing mail server (SMTP):.

·                                 Type your AOL screen name under User Name:.

o                                                        If your AOL email address is "homers@aol.com", for example, type "homers".

·                                 Type your AOL password under Password:.

·                                 Go to the Outgoing Server tab.

·                                 Make sure My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication is checked.
